Crockpot dyeing some yarn again

So the mood struck to spin…and ply…and wind into a skein some plain ol’ white wool. And then of course the mood struck to dye it. I’ve done this before, but it’s been awhile, so I just went with what felt right…

-Mixed about 1:8 vinegar to warm water in the crock pot and let the yarn soak

-Separately mixed about 20-30 drops of food coloring in 1 cup water each, 2 different colors in 2 different glasses–blue and green

-Drained off a goodly amount of vinegar/water from the yarn (leaving in some with the yarn fully saturated), arranged the yarn again carefully, poured blue on half and green on the other half, making sure all was submerged

-Set it to high for 4 hours and left to visit family

-Upon arriving home the dye had all been absorbed by the yarn leaving the water clear in the crockpot, so I took it out and rinsed it carefully, making sure not to temperature shock it (graaadual temperature changes for wool unless you’re looking to make felt)

-Let it dry, and ta-da!
